If for some reason it hangs, then restarting both the computer and the Rendu solves it.

I leave the computer on 24/7 and rarely have issues with FLAC, or DSD over PCM.

The PC and the Rendu are Ethernet wired to my Cisco switch (no wireless) and everything is controlled by JRemote on the iPad which is wireless (of course) via the Airport Extreme wired to the Cisco switch. I use JRMC to feed files to the Sonore Rendu (original model, not Signature) and then by SPDIF BNC either (a) directly to the NuForce DDA-100 (direct to digital amp) or (b) to my Schiit Gunguinir DAC and then my Dared 2A3C amp. Maybe DLNA needs to be relooked maybe we audio lovers ask too much of it. Net/net, some of the things we love so much about JRemote just might not translate over when lightened up to be a ubiquitous control point. DLNA and UPnP do not offer much in the way of robust features (or so I'm told), and even going Open Home is way less than one can program into a dedicated proprietary remote like JRemote. but after seeing what is out there and the push back that many in the industry are giving DLNA, comparing something like JRemote (and all its capabilities) to having to live life as a UPnP control point is likely apples vs ashtrays in many ways. I am not trying to come to JRMC's defense and Cebolla, I had been wondering the same.

If this could be done, it would turn JRemote into a UPnP/DLNA control point, without the need for JMC running on a computer, to be used with any UPnP/DLNA renderer and not just a dedicated remote control app for JMC. It's a shame the JRiver UPnP/DLNA control point is embedded in JMC and cannot be separated to become part of JRemote. Overall, it seemed the interaction of the control point app and JRMC was "brittle" in that it didnt take much for some kind of freeze or issue to happen. Now playing screens are sometimes not updated on control point app. Sometimes the repeating will stop after about 20-30 times. The only way to stop it is to reset the PC. Sometimes the last 1-2 seconds of a song will just repeat itself over and over. I have tested this with 3 different control point apps on ipad and Android.Īctions such as play, pause, add tracks to playlist is also very slow and sometimes does not work.

Perhaps this is not enough horsepower? When I check the CPU usage its down around 10% most of the time unless I am transcoding DSD to PCM which pushes the CPU to 50-70%.Īs for buggy here are some recurring issues I have:Ĭontrol point software is very slow to load my library. I have JRMC running on a Atom 525 Win7 machine with no Audiophile Optimizer or Jplay running on it.

If you're using this equipment, that might be part of the problem:īut could you be specific about what you consider "buggy"? I don't think it is generally so.
